Winter Weather
January 2010 came in like a lion here in in the Southeastern, USA. Temperatures have dipped down into the teens with some terrible blustery winds.
I took these first two photos a couple of weeks ago during an afternoon of snow showers. The little lake which lies below and in the middle of the sub-division had frozen over and turned white from the snow. It was a pretty sight but I would much rather have summer temperatures.
Today the weather has finally done a turn around and temperatures are in the low
sixties (fahrenheit). The skies are beautiful today. The second photo below shows a bit of the lake in the bottom of the photo. It is all thawed out!

Magnolia Tree
These photos were taken some time back. I found these in my photo file and decided to show them here on the blog. One is of the huge tree in my front yard. If there is such a thing as hating a tree, then I hate this tree. I definitely do not like it!
This tree drops something constantly, year round. Part year, there are the big slick, stiff leaves that fall and have to be raked up because they are not good for the lawnmower blades. The other half of the year, the pods dry up and fall and they are even worse on the mower blades. It is a year 'round job to keep all this cleaned up from the big tree.

PhoneCamera
A couple of months ago, I upgraded my cell phone to a new Sony that has an eight megapixel camera. I was amazed that a cell phone would have such a camera. These are two of the first photos I took with it. I wanted to see just how well it would do with a close up. These were actually weeds beside my garage. I think the result was pretty good for a phone camera.

Blue Budgies
Some of my favorite pets are budgies, especially blue budgies. Presenting in the first two photos, Smokey. The last two are Blu and Doli.
